                   A HARPOON (v1.2) SCENARIO

                          Introduction

This scenario is my exploration of Britain's naval force's
ability, unaided by other NATO/US assets, to withstand a Soviet
Northern Fleet assault. I have maximized the UK naval forces
operational readiness. (Hey, give me a break I'm British OK!!)

All three Invincible class carriers are deployed, whereas in
normal circumstances one would usually be in refit. Also the
game reflects the reinforcement of each carrier's usual Harrier
compliment of 8 with an additional 4 Harrier FRS-2s and the
option to add some further RAF Harrier GR5s. This is not too far
from reality and was in fact done during the deployment of the
carriers during the Falklands War.

All U.K air assets(except the carrier and task force air
reinforcements) are assumed to be totally committed to defending
U.K mainland airspace and so are unavailable to you as Fleet
Commander. You must defend the integrity of The GIUK barrier with
the limited resources at your disposal.

I have found some surprising twists and turns in play occur in
this scenario and it unfolds differently each time I play it. It
is tough but not impossible, if you keep a cool head (and a stiff
upper lip!).

Good luck! and please let me know your opinion/suggestions via
